Choosing the right color is a humongous task which needs to be well thought of as you have to stick to it whether it is the right or wrong choice. Often people make the safer choice going for colors which are neutral and work well with changing colors of décor.

After choosing the right color you need to decide on how to lay the planks in the room. For that you need to check with different suppliers of Orange County. You can choose to get them laid in a straight line as is customary, or you can have them placed diagonally to add a little design to it. Sometimes people often choose to have borders in their flooring. For example a dark colored border covering on all four sides of the room and enclosing a lighter shade in the middle. Patterns can be made in a lot of different ways but a lot of calculation is also required for that as big and small pieces of planks have to be adjusted with each other.
Some of the hardwood planks are suitable to be used in areas of heavy traffic. You can ask your Orange County dealer to help you out in this respect. A place like the living room, dining room or kitchen meets most of the traffic in the home.

Provenza Flooring in Orange County

March 18th, 2011

Where can I buy provenza hardwood Floors in Orange County.

Orange county is home to provenza hardwood, but it seems most dealers are over charging all over southern California. One of southern California’s oldest dealers, Avery Hardwood Carpet & Tile (been in business over 14 years (verified) and supposedly longer than that sells provenza hardwood and has it installed in their show room so you can see, look, feel and even step on it.  The thing we like about these guys is that the reviews are very honest.

Apparently not much selling happens. As one review says, “It is what it is”. And we like that.

We conducted a little test and called 4 OC dealers (and a total of 10 California provenza hardwood dealers) and asked for pricing on different provenza hardwood products.

Avery Hardwood Carpet and Tile had an average savings of 9% and was actually #2 on the cheapest of the dealers we called. The other dealer, while 0.01c cheaper than Avery  on their provenza hardwood products, charged over 15% more for installation, and yelled at us when we asked if they had it in stock!

For all of your provenza hardwood needs check them out.

Simple ways to use provenza floors

February 15th, 2011

Wood Provenza floors are attractive to look at and are really good value for money. If you are planning to use Provenza floors in your home, be careful as there are easy to use and install but they can be very technique sensitive. Here are a few tips you should know before you install your Provenza floors inside your home.

• You will need professional nailers that will attach the wood flooring to the underlying support. Instead of using hand drillers, you can rent and use floor nailer that will do the job for you. A few companies will also provide you pre-drilled wood pieces that you use instead of spending time on drilling. If you don’t like nailers, you can use manual and air assisted staplers that will work much better. Professionals recommend the use of a stapler on Provenza floors to prevent damaging the material.
• Check the underlying support for squeaks. Once you have laid the Provenza floors, you cannot do anything to treat the underlying floor. Ensure that you check the underlying support thoroughly to prevent any wood from rubbing against it and each other. It’s not easy to find problem areas but proper floor preparation means you will be able to prevent the problem completely.
• Keep about half and inch of space between the floors and the walls. You can reduce the half inch to less to prevent seepage and dirt accumulation but you will have a slight space. This will allow the flooring to expand in case of humidity, climate and weather. Problems can arise with any kind of hardwood flooring that has not been used properly. For example, if you engineered flooring that was not attached properly, then it will shrink away from its backing. When you walk on the same spot, there will be clicking sound. But this problem does not arise with Provenza floors that are securely attached to the floor with tongue and groove attachments.
• Ensure that your professional Provenza floors layer has all his tools. They will need power saws, manual or air assisted floor nailers, or staplers, carpenter’s squares. Power jigsaws, and saber saws, table saws, and fine tooth handsaws for cutting down wood panels.

Before you start installing the Provenza floors, read through all the instructions provided. This will make sure that you do the process properly and get the best Provenza floors possible.

Products from DuChateau Floors

February 6th, 2011

Not many people are aware of what DuChateau Floors are actually, but this high quality store has a few of the best hardwood floors in the entire market. If you don’t know what kind of floors they make, here is a quick history of their manufacturing methods and the history behind their high quality flooring.

Quality
The wood floors that are created by DuChateau Floors are much better than conventional hardwood flooring. The company tries to retain the original method of installing and making hardwood floors which means you do get quality for the kind of money you are paying out.  The original antique look is created on the hardwood flooring with the help of expertly trained technicians. The entire process is labor intensive and exacting to create the right kind of distressed wood look that you want.  You will be able to find top quality, planks of hardwood that are treated, sanded, and hard waxed, oiled, and brushed to create the same look as you will find in old churches and monasteries. The original antique vintage look is not easy to create but DuChateau Floors has several varieties that you can choose from.

What makes DuChateau Floors so unique?
Most ordinary hardwood flooring companies created laminated wood flooring that has been placed on an engineered background. The wood is then surface treated and covered with a sealant coat to protect it. But DuChateau Floors does not follow the same manufacturing process. The wood floors are created but they are distressed by hand to create a time worn look and then hand waxed with hard waxes. All DuChateau Floors are hand distressed by expert European artisans who can mimic years of traffic artfully on the flooring without weakening or damaging the flooring completely.  Another major difference with other manufactureres is that the DuChateau Floors company uses a hard wax oil that produces the distinctive finish on the floors. Instead of using a sealant coat, each floor strip is covered with specially made secret non-polluting, non-toxic, ZERO VOC polish that is free of synthetic biocides, and preservatives. As the product is also benzene free, it does not add to indoor pollution levels. This special wax oil allows the oil to penetrate into the wood creating the spectacular look and shine while allowing the wax to sit on the surface and protect the wood flooring.

There are many more processing techniques that are used by DuChateau Floors to create their one of a kind hardwood floors.  Do take a look at their online catalog to get more information on styles and colors.

Why are hardwood floors so good for your home?

January 31st, 2011

When you are choosing hardwood floors for your home, you have to be very careful. You have to make sure that the flooring is perfect for the weather, the humidity, and different locations inside your home. Here are a few tips to help you out.

Classic flooring- Wood flooring has been around for several years now. But the flooring that is now used in modern homes is completely different. You will be able to find resourced flooring from different locations like scrap heaps and lumber yards. Recycled versions of woods are also available that you can use like wood vats, whiskey barrels, signage, and even used bamboo trees. But this will cost you much more and you will have to refinish the flooring to ensure that it fits into the surroundings of your home. Classic flooring is also fraught with other problems like pests and colors.  Another frequent problem is quantity as you might not be able to get adequate amounts of the flooring. Treat all the classic flooring that you use for hardwood floorings with anti-pest treatments to ensure that it lasts.  As a far better alternative, you should choose pre-made flooring like engineered flooring; completely hardwood flooring and even laminated versions of hardwood flooring that will last longer.

Allergies- wall to wall carpeting is one of the reasons why people land up colds and allergies. But with hardwood floors you will not have to worry about all that. Well made hardwood floors will last for a long time and fit perfectly with no seams. This will ensure that no dirt gets stuck under the seams leading to allergies.  You will also find the flooring far easier to clean as compared to carpeting.  You won’t need to use chemicals to clean the hardwood floors as all you need to plain water and soap. A few hardwood floors will not require even water for cleaning

Softer than tile- Most hardwood floors are extremely durable and long lasting. Installing the flooring is very easy as you will require a foam backing under the flooring to keep it stable and in place. This ensures that the flooring smooth and easier to walk on. Hardwood floors also are warmer as compared to tiles in winter and they are much more pleasant to walk on.  You can choose to use rugs on the flooring to make it look better but it looks just as good without rugs. As a rule of thumb, wood is far springier than tile or ceramics and much more comfortable to walk on
