Provenza hardwood: How to use them the right way?

January 26th, 2011

Provenza hardwood flooring can easily be placed over a wood substructure. But there are several challenges and differences that come into play when you are using Provenza hardwood flooring. Here are a few tips to help you out.

This article can help you out regardless of what Provenza Flooring product you are looking at. Provenza African Plains, Provenza Metallics, Provenza Old World, etc.

• Use the right subfloor for your Provenza hardwood flooring. If you have a concrete base, you will have to engineered flooring rather than the solid hardwood flooring. There are many reasons for this but one major reason is that the engineered flooring tiles are much more stable as compared to solid hardwood floors. Even after you have prepared the subfloor, you have to check it for squeaks and leveling. There are several ways to check for rises and falls and squeaks but you will have to get a professional to do the job for you.  You can deal with small rises and falls yourself by pulling up the subfloor and planning it down in a single spot. But do get an expert opinion from a professional before you start laying your Provenza hardwood flooring.
• Laying down the very first Provenza hardwood strip is really essential.  If the very first strip is laid down right, all the other strips dovetail together into one single unit. But if you don’t lay the first one properly, gaps and spaces develop. You can deal with this Provenza hardwood gap problem by using blind nailing.
• If you have fixed furniture inside your home, you have to install the flooring around it. If you don’t have furniture installed, get it done right away and then proceed to put in the flooring.
• After installing the Provenza hardwood flooring, you will have to sand, finish and buff the Provenza hardwood. Each wood strip is individually treated with a clear UV coat to make it resistant to the sun and to stains. But if you keep sanding the floor indiscriminately, it will damage the floor completely. It’s a far better idea to find a professional who will do the job for you.
• Please do not attempt to refinish any stains and defects in the flooring by yourself. This is a job that is far better done by professionals.  For small scratches you can try Poly sealer which will work to seal in the scratch. Anything else and it will damage the underlying wood surface.

Provenza hardwood flooring is very easy to take care of but you do need to be careful. If the installation is done properly, the Provenza hardwood flooring can last for a lifetime.

Yes its illegal to charge up front for a loan modification

January 24th, 2011

Over the last few months I have received the same question a few hundred times in email that I’d like to answer here once and for all. The question is regarding Loan Modification in California, and weather its still legal for companies to charge for it.

As you may or may not know, the term “lawyer” when it comes to loan modification over the past few years, in California at least, was a sure fire way to get scammed. Fact remains is lawyers that had no experience in court finally had a way to make money without having any real experience. Charge for a service they can’t guarantee. How great is that.

For the lawyers, it was very good.

Don’t get me wrong. I know many law firms that in fact tried to help (and have successfully helped most if not all of their clients), but I know a lot more that were designed to run a loan modification scam from day 1.

Because of the loan modification scams things have changed a bit.

Its now, and has been, illegal to charge up front for a loan modification – especially from an attorney.
If somebody has charged you up-front, even with words like “trust account”, make sure to report them to the DRE and/or California state bar  ASAP!

How do you choose the right Provenza Floors for your bedroom?

January 18th, 2011

If you have a house in Orange County, try using the Provenza Floors for your bedroom interiors. Here are a few ideas by which you can spiffy up your bedroom interiors with the right hardwood flooring from Provenza Floors.

Types of wood flooring- Provenza Flooring offers hardwood floors that are both solid as well as engineered. Solid flooring is made up completely of wood with no backing. These floors are the best but they do tend to warp if you don’t take care of them. Engineered flooring on the other hand is composed of strips of hardwood that is stuck to a backing. This backing makes the flooring stronger and much more resistant to warping. You can choose any stained hardwood variety but most bedrooms can also use special humidity resistant hardwood floors that are treated to last for a longer period of time.

Finishing- Most hardwood floors are made at the factory and finished and polished at the factory itself. But a few companies will also offer you an option of completing the tinting at your project or at your home. This ensures that the flooring will exactly match your interiors. It will however take longer to dry and it will generate a little dust. You can opt for refinished floors that are already tinted, sealed and polished. All you have to do is create the backing and the underlying support and install the prepared tiles.

Wood varieties- There are over 22 different varieties of wood hardwood flooring that is offered on the internet and at Provenza floors. The most popular options are Red Oak, White Oak, Maple, Pine, and Hickory. Oak seems to match every interior but it can be really expensive. If you can’t afford oak, you can opt for Brazilian Cherry, Australian Cypress, Padauk, Teak, Wenge, Jarrah and Merbau. Ensure that you take a look at the samples before you choose a wood. The grain of the wood and the depth of the color chosen should accentuate your interiors completely. If possible, ask for a foot long sample to find out exactly how it will look.

Installing hardwood floors can be a huge onetime investment in your home. Ensure that you buy the best and take care of it well. You can then enjoy it for the rest of your life.

How to remove buildup on your Orange County Hardwood Flooring

January 16th, 2011

You’ve finally got the flooring you wanted in your Orange County Hardwood house. But now you’re worried about how the flooring is going to last in the long run? You’ve already spent a lot of money putting in the underlying support and buying the hardwood tiles and paying the contractor. But just how long is the Orange County hardwood flooring of your house going to last? Let’s find out

Maintenance and use
The variety of Orange County hardwood flooring you have will determine how long it will last. Most traditional hardwood floors require extensive maintenance and care along with regular polishing and rewaxing. But a few manufacturers now make the flooring with a special sealant coating. This ensures that it will be far more resistant to humidity and moisture. A few brands have special kinds of hardwood flooring that can also be used in bathrooms and which can resist the moisture over several years.

Homecare
As a Orange County hardwood floor owner, you have to take a few steps to preserve the flooring. You can start by making sure that all the furniture and fixtures have legs have rubber coated feet to prevent any scratches on the flooring. Use a soft bristled broom on the hardwood flooring to clean it. If you have a sweep, use it to remove the overlying dust and then clean it with the soft bristled brush. Use water that is free of detergent to wipe down the floor.  You can add vinegar to the water to get a better cleaning effect. Vinegar can kill any lingering debris, fungi and even bacteria on the floor. To get a sweeter scent, add lemon oil or lemon juice to the water and it will add to the vinegar effect while giving it a fresher scent. You can mop your floor quite regularly or atleast once a week to get the best effects. Most manufacturers also recommend adding special hardwood cleaners to the water to get the shine back into them.  You can also use scrub brushes that will remove spot stains. Scrub lightly in a circular motion and the stains will come out quite quickly due to the sealant coating on the flooring. Do not water remain in contact with your Orange County hardwood coating for extended periods of time or it the wood will warp.

With a little care and precautions, you can easily maintain your orange County hardwood flooring for several years. If you feel that the luster has decreased, you can ask a company to repolish and wax the flooring once a year. It will just ensure that the Orange County hardwood flooring lasts longer.

Dont Rip Up Your Hardwood Floors !

January 10th, 2011

In what is apparently more common than you would think, people in the process of a Foreclosure (after getting ripped off by loan modification scam artists that is), is they are ripping up everything in their home in hopes of selling anything they can for extra cash. However, many say this will only hurt them once the sale happens.

After speaking with a few investors who buy homes at Foreclosure Auctions, many of them will continue to let the tenant live in the home for a lot less than they would have rented a home for, until the investor can sell the home that is.

Some also offer to help the ex-homeowners move out, find a new place, and will even write a $5,000 to $10,000 check.

This however doesn’t happen if the tenants start ripping out the Hardwood Floors, Toilets, doors, and anything else they can think of.

“Its not like we can’t install hardwood floors ourselves, but its just a headache to have to deal with it if its not needed. The money we save in fixing the home can be put in the homeowners pocket” says John Smithson, an investor from Orange County, California.

John tries to buy at least 5 homes a week, with his best week being 12 homes. “The homeowners think we don’t care, but fact remains is we do. We are just trying to conduct business at the same time”

So while the $5,000 might not replace your Provenza Floors, it will help you get settled into a new place.

November 30th, 2010

WASHINGTON - Russell Mackert, 51, of Spring, Texas, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in Richmond, Va., to conspiracy charges in connection with his role as a lawyer for the A&O entities, a group of businesses that acquired and marketed more than $100 million of fraudulent investments in life settlements to more than 800 victims across the United States and Canada, announced U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride of the Eastern District of Virginia and Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Criminal Division.

“Russell Mackert today admitted he helped perpetuate a massive fraud estimated at over $100 million against innocent investors – including a number of elderly retirees – throughout the country,” said U.S. Attorney MacBride. “Mr. Mackert abused his position as an attorney to mislead investors, and now he is being held responsible for his financial crimes.  I want to commend the outstanding work of the Virginia Financial and Securities Fraud Task Force for its outstanding work in uncovering this massive fraud.”

“Investment fraud schemes like the one perpetrated by Mr. Mackert and his co-conspirators can lead to devastating losses for individual victims,” said Assistant Attorney General Breuer.  “We will continue to be aggressive in prosecuting individuals who attempt to profit by such criminal schemes, including the lawyers and accountants who facilitate them.”
